Mission
Announcement: The Rapid Investigation Clinic in Onoclogy (Guichet d’investigation en cancérologie) is open since June 30, 2023 at the Jewish General Hospital for the pulmonary and breast tumor sites.
The Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) was set up to ensure rapid coordination of a range of activities leading to diagnosis for patients at high-risk of developing cancer.
Thanks to the single point of entry, patients have rapid access to consultations with doctors, nurses and specialists for timely diagnosis. The ultimate aim of the Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology is to shorten the time between the first symptom and diagnosis, so that patients can be treated more quickly. The Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology ensures that the requested examinations are carried out and promotes optimal coordination of oncology investigations, while using a defined algorithm for the tumor site in suspicion.

1 Any other pulmonary lesions, fill in the referral form below but note that the patient will be redirected to the clinical access service at the JGH.
2 Metastatic disease and recurrence are not exclusion criteria.
Process for referring patients to the Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology
- The Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology is available by appointment only.
- The patient will be contacted within 24 hours* of receipt of the referral form to arrange an initial appointment and ensure treatment.
* Referrals sent on weekends and public holidays will be processed on the next working day.
Pulmonary
For referrals to the pulmonary Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology (by a physician or nurse practitioner):

Breast
For referrals to the Breast Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology (by a physician or nurse practitioner):
Women who need to have a screening mammogram or ultrasound can do so at a designated screening centre (CDD) or medical imaging laboratory (LIM), with the exception of women who choose to participate in the PQDCS program, their screening examinations can only be done at a CDD.
1) For patients with abnormal mammograms BI-RADS 4 and above (4a, 4b, 4c, 5, 6):
- CDDs are responsible for referring patients to the CRID of their choice. Only one CRID-Radiology can be selected by the patient.
- Designated screening centers (CDD) must e-mail all patient reports with abnormal mammograms (BI-RADS 4 and 5) to the Rapid Investigation Clinic in Onoclogy and to the Centre de référence pour investigation désigné (CRID - Radiologie) at the Jewish General Hospital.

* Please note that those emails are to be used only by CDDs. Requests from patients are NOT accepted though these emails. *
Requests for breast MRI or breast MRI biopsy must be accompanied by a completed MRI questionnaire_consent.
- The referring physician will still receive his patient's results, but is no longer required to send an imaging requisition to the CRID. The aim is to reduce delays and enable patients to be treated more quickly. The referring physician will be notified of their patient’s care plan by the Rapid Investigation Clinic in Oncology (Guichet d'investigation en cancérologie).
2) For patients with BI-RADS < 4 or abnormal breast examination:
- If a doctor sees a patient in his or her office and detects a mass while examining the patient's breast, he or she can fill out a radiology requisition and send it to CRID-Radiology. The imaging requisition will be accepted by our CRID - Radiology.
- A reminder that the CRID - Radiology is an imaging department and they only accept imaging requisitions. Consultation requests can be sent to the Rapid Investigation Clinic (Guichet d'investigation).
