Jewish General Hospital named among Canada’s best healthcare employers in survey by Forbes magazine

For the second year in a row, the Jewish General Hospital has been named one of Canada’s best employers in a survey by Forbes magazine.

Montreal, Quebec, January 28, 2022 – For the second year in a row, the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) has been named one of Canada’s best employers in a survey by Forbes magazine.

Official recognition comes as an award from Forbes and Statista Inc., one of the world’s leading statistics portals.

The  Forbes list consists of 300 Canadian companies and organizations in the private and public sector.

“It’s an honour to be recognized once again among the best in Canada,” says Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, President and CEO of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, the healthcare network in which the JGH plays a pivotal role as a major innovator and a pace-setting acute-care hospital.

The JGH, which opened in 1934, is the largest—and, in many respects, the focal point—of the roughly three dozen healthcare and social services facilities in CIUSSS West-Central Montreal.

As a McGill University teaching hospital, the JGH is also one of the province’s most sophisticated and busiest healthcare facilities, with a major oncology centre (the Segal Cancer Centre) and one of the world’s leading research institutes (the  Lady Davis Institute).

“This recognition from Forbes is particularly noteworthy, since it comes at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is still placing a major strain on the healthcare system,” says Dr. Rosenberg.

“Despite these challenging circumstances, our CIUSSS and the JGH are maintaining their solid support for our employees, so that we can continue to provide the patient-centred care that has become our hallmark. Our reputation as a top employer is what helps us recruit and retain first-rate employees in numerous clinical and non-clinical fields.”

Forbes and Statista developed their list by polling more than 10,000 Canadians who work for companies that have at least 500 employees in Canada. The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees, who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family.
