Mission Statement

The Department of Dietetics’ mission is

  • to provide medical nutrition therapy to patients.
  • to provide patients with meals nourishments in accordance with nutritionist prescription.
  • to maintain a Kosher environment.
  • to promote “healthy eating” to all hospital staff and the public.
  • to foster teamwork and collaboration within and outside the department.
  • to promote an environment of learning and mentoring.
  • to be active members of the multidisciplinary team, working together to achieve the hospital’s mission.
  • to encourage the evolution of the dietetic practice in line with the development of new technologies in foodservice and clinical nutrition.
  • to foster an environment of safety and security.

We are committed to:

  • assessing and monitoring nutritional status
  • prescribing diet regimes
  • providing nutrition support
  • teaching and counselling on appropriate diet
  • offering a menu that conforms to most recent nutrition guidelines
  • preparing and delivering patient meals and snacks
  • preparing tube feedings for adult patients and for neonatology
  • preparing food for cafeteria and catering events
  • teaching and mentoring dietetic interns
  • providing continuous education and learning for all our staff
  • participating in hospital wide education and research programs
  • initiating and overseeing nutrition research projects
