Samuel Minzberg

SAMUEL MINZBERG, 2007 - 2009

"Samuel Minzberg, a partner with the Montreal law firm Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg, has been active at JGH since 1999 and has served as Vice‑President of the hospital’s Board and as Chairman of the JGH Foundation.

Among Mr. Minzberg's objectives as President is sustaining and adding impetus to current initiatives to increase the number of programs and to upgrade services of benefit to JGH patients.

These include new facilities for the Division of Radiation Oncology (currently under construction) and more extensive use of refurbished premises in Pavilion H.

Mr. Minzberg was raised and educated in Montreal, where he received his B.A., B.C.L. (Bachelor of Civil Law) and L.L.B. (Bachelor of Common Law) degrees from McGillUniversity.

After studying law on a scholarship in France in 1973-74, he was admitted to the bar in 1975 and went on to practice law at Phillips & Vineberg (as the firm was then known).

In 1998, Mr. Minzberg joined Claridge Inc., the holding company of the Charles Bronfman family, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer until the end of 2002. He then took up his current duties at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg in 2003.

In addition to his work for the Jewish General Hospital, Mr. Minzberg sits on the boards of HSBC Bank Canada, HSBC North America Holdings Inc., Reitmans (Canada) Limited, Quebecor Media Inc. and Richmont Mines Inc.
